Halo Go 2 Overview
The Halo Go 2, part of the Halo Hoverboard family continuously seems to be at the top of the market. Halo is a market leader in the Hoverboard space and consistently produce high-quality self-balancing Hoverboards. As you’ll see in this 2021 Halo Go 2 Review, this hoverboard is no different. Appearance wise, the Halo Go 2 has a modernized sleek chrome finish and a shatter resistant shell with a wide range of eye catching colors. Ride smoothly on your Halo Go 2 featuring rider-assist technology while running at a top speed of 9mph with the “Never-Flat Tires”. The ‘Never-Flat Tires’ name comes from the design around the tires which are covered with a shatter resistant casing. The tires also have rubber guards built to cover the wheels and protect against damage.
One of the biggest benefits of Halo Go 2, as well as all other Halo boards, is that they are UL certified under the UL 2272 and UL 2271. This makes for a safer ride and peace of mind, allowing you to ride the board, and blast your music with the Bluetooth speakers without concerns for battery safety. Speaking price wise, these boards can be a bit on the steeper side in comparison to others we’ve reviewed. However, you’d be surprised how often Halo’s go on sale. If you don’t mind waiting, we recommend waiting to see if any Halo Go 2 Black Friday deals are released. We’ve seen significant Halo Black Friday deals in the past and have setup price trackers to notify us of any Halo Go 2 Black Friday & Cyber Monday deals as they’re released.
Looking at specs, this product seems to beat out a lot of the competitors in terms of speed, safety and durability. The Halo Go 2 dimensions are 23.8″ x 7.3″ x 7.3″ with a 500 watt motor. Let’s check this out in more detail.
Speed, Power & Distance
Speed and power & Distance
How fast does it go? What is the range/distance?
Halo Go 2 runs at a max speed of 9 mph, running just below its sister product the Rover. That being said it is still on par or above other most competing hoverboards we’ve reviewed.
The range is averaged at 8 miles. This is always dependent of factors like speed and weight. The battery is equipped to run up to two hours, which is a long time, again compared to other hoverboards we’ve reviewed. Similarly, do keep in mind that the battery depletion rate depends on how fast you’re going, your weight, and for how long. The reason it can travel so far is due to its “small” tires. At 6.5”, this board can be taken inside or out. But, do take into account it was specifically designed for flat, pavement surfaces.
What age/weight is it suitable for?
The Halo Go 2 can carry up to 260 lbs, which goes to show that this can be enjoyed by adults and children alike. The technology is great for new riders; both adults and kids alike. See more info below for how easy it is to ride.
Can it be used offroad?
We wouldn’t recommend this one for off-roading. It’s designed specifically for inside use or flat, even surfaces outdoors.
Battery Life & Charging
Battery Life & Charging
Halo Go 2 comes equipped with a Samsung Lithium-ion UL certified battery, which is considered the number one rated and most trusted battery on the market as seen here. A 500 Watt electric motor allows the scooter to go up to an impressive 9pmh, with a range of 8 miles. The battery lasts for 1.5-2 hours, which comparatively is almost double many hoverboards we’ve reviewed.
Battery protection & safety
The Halo Go 2 board is certified under the UL2272 which is the safety certificate specifically aimed for hoverboards/self-balancing scooters.
This suggests it has undergone electrical and fire-safety testing and certification. We consider this to be one of the biggest benefits of owning this particular product. This UL standard applies to its electrical drive train, battery, and charging system. Ultimately, you can be at ease knowing that you or someone you care about is riding the Halo Go 2 without the worry of the product overheating or malfunctioning and potentially even exploding.
Proof of the UL 2272 safety standard is the UL hologram certificate on the board. Plus, the self-balancing scooter has UL 2271 certified fire-safe batteries to safeguard against catching fire and comes with a UL certified charger and a four year life span.
Design & Ergonomics
Design and Ergonomics
Halo advertises this specific hoverboard as providing a super smooth ride, supported by its 6.5” Never-Flat tires. These tires are sturdy without being bulky. They’re covered with a shatter resistant casing and rubber guards specifically for covering the wheels, designed for protection against any minor crashes such as walls or sidewalks. The Halo Go 2 dimensions are 23.8″ x 7.3″ x 7.3″ with a 500 watt motor and weighing in at 22lbs.
Does it connect to your smartphone via app or Bluetooth?
Halo Go 2 connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth so you can play your favorite tunes through the speaker. The speaker is found on the underside of the hoverboard. Unfortunately, this Halo product doesn’t provide the app of the sister board Rover or Rover X which allows you to track your live speed, battery life, distance traveled, map your ride and power your hoverboard on and off.
Does it have lights?
The Halo comes equipped with LED lights providing a safer ride too when it’s low-light conditions or night time. The two lights improve user visibility to help you move around branches, rocks, and other obstacles before reaching them. The LEDs look cool too with the high polish chrome finish.
2 indicator lights with three different settings can also be found on the board:
- Warning Indicator Light: A red light that turns on when there’s an issue with the board.
- Balance Indicator Light: A green light which turns on when the scooter is in balance mode. (Uses the same light as the warning indicator).
- Battery Status Indicator Light: A green light which will turn on when the board is on.
Does it come in different colors?
The bright colors available such as blue, pink and gold and the polished chrome finish really allow attention to be drawn. This board is great for kids as they’ll love the appearance – it doesn’t go unnoticed!
Build quality and ease of use
The casing is shatter resistant. As noted before and has rubber wheel covers to protect your new board from small or moderate impacts if you accidentally bump against a raised sidewalk or another obstacle. It also safeguards against scratches. Plus, the two 6.5-inch tires are said to never go flat. It’s obvious that safety is vital to this hoverboards design.
Is it easy to ride?
Hoverboards can present a bit of a learning curve when brand new to a self standing board. That’s why with the efforts of ride assist where the board is automatically balanced, you should be off with a head start and cruising in no time. The board also comes with a rubber foot matt to help with friction, so you should be able to stand firmly on the board.
The Super Smooth Never-Flat tires on the Halo Go 2 allow you to enjoy effortless cruisy rides for times to come.
The Halo Go 2 can carry up to 260 lbs, which goes to show that this can be enjoyed not only by children, but also for adults. We think it’s one of the best hoverboards for heavy riders. If you already have experience with hoverboards you may find this one to easy or not challenging.
Is the Halo Go 2 waterproof?
The Halo Go 2 has no waterproof rating, so we highly recommend keeping to dry conditions.
Halo Go 2 Review – Our likes and dislikes:
Overall, the Halo Go 2 Hoverboard review is glowing. It’s a solid hoverboard backed by a great brand, but like with any product, there are pros and cons.
What we like
UL Certified battery – A selling point on its own. It shows the legitimacy of the board and although we aren’t going to guarantee the common concern many consumers have about the boards blowing up, catching fire or smoking. We do think this is a safer option provided the UL safety standards.
Ride Assist – A helpful solution with beginner riders, as your board will always stand upright as long as the power is on, leading you to stress-free cruises.
What we dislike
Potential of easy scratching – The guard should protect from scratches. However, the chrome finish is said to get easily scratched while riding in some user reviews. Halo Go 2 is highlighted for its high end- cool, sleek design, with a focus on the appearance. A scratched chrome finish may cause some upset for some users.
No smartphone app – Some sister products as listed above (Rover, Rover X) have the ability to connect to the smartphone app so you can see live updates on speed, distance, battery life etc. The Segway miniPRO even has in-app diagnostics! It depends on what you’re looking for, perhaps its just an added bonus to have an app. But, some people may find it very helpful.
Halo GO 2 Black Friday & Cyber Monday
Those seeking serious savings will be wondering about some Halo GO 2 Black Friday deals. We believe this will be more than likely, with Halo offering a number of deals last Black Friday, with savings up to $500! Furthermore, with the rising competitive nature in the hoverboard industry, a Black Friday sale is also imperitive in gaining market share and influence.
This should likely motivate Halo into offering a few more Black Friday deals. Companies who don’t take advantage of Black Friday and the sales it brings will inevitably be left on the sidelines. Whilst this board is still an amazing deal, we recommend holding off and waiting for any Halo Go 2 Black Friday & Cyber Monday deals. Keep checking for the latest updates or discover our list of possible Black Friday hoverboard deals this 2021!
